    The Director of Offsite Construction will be responsible for developing, implementing, and leading Flintco’s Offsite construction operations. (Prefabrication)  This role will then lead the training of field and estimating staff on looking for and executing offsite construction best practices.  This person will also help oversee offsite construction efforts during active projects including the logistics, planning, and building of offsite components. This position has the flexibility to be primarily located in any Flintco regional office. Travel may be required for this position up to 50%. 


    All job functions shall be accomplished including practicing, instructing all subordinates in, and enforcing all OSHA safety requirements/guidelines, in addition to all company policies and procedures. The Superintendent will be held directly accountable for safety performance. The essential functions include but are not limited to:

    • Responsible for daily management of the offsite construction facility and staff
    • Oversee construction of prefabricated modules from lay out to completion
    • Maintain costs per budget (overall and per project)
    • Maintenance of off-site construction shop tools
    • Implement strategies for continuous improvement
    • Conduct weekly manpower and task planning for offsite construction facility
    • Able to track and organize projects and information
    • Coordinate with preconstruction personnel, field supervisors, and executive management to identify and produce prefabrication assemblies for specific projects
    • Work with preconstruction and operations leads to identify offsite construction opportunities for projects
    • Train Flintco employees in the most efficient prefab and offsite construction means and methods
    • Work with Project Manager in preparation of project schedule and budget.
    • Become thoroughly familiar with the plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, and all documents related to the project.
    • Select methods and acquire equipment for the project.
    • Understand and enforce company safety policies and organize safety meetings with employees and supervisors.
    • Assure accurate completion or all documentation including safety reports, payroll preparation, labor unit report.
    • Conduct meetings with subordinates, subcontractors and others as appropriate in order to inform, coordinate and direct work.
    • Track and report back on historical production rates and costs for offsite activities.
    • Approve or disapprove invoices and monies spent on the job, and verify coding on all invoices and requisitions.
    • Instruct supervisors in job direction and company policies and procedures.
    • Inspect the work of employees and subcontractors to ensure construction conforms to requirements of the Contract Documents, and the quality needed to build repeat business.




    Prepare detailed construction projects plans, schedules and estimates.  Read and interpret construction drawings, show drawings and specifications.    Calculate square footage, volumes and percentages using a personal computer or calculator.   Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.   Prepare and update project schedules, transmittals and submittals using personal computer software.    Manager large groups of personnel and to accomplish desired results through subordinate levels of management with little or no supervision. Must be able to prioritize work and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.



    4 year Engineering, Business, or Construction Management Degree preferred or 8 years of relevant experience.



    • At least 10 years of commercial construction experience with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in pre-fabrication and offsite construction processes and practices.
    • Demonstrated leader and subject matter expert in the area of offsite construction including: speaking on offsite construction operations, published on best practices, consulting within the construction industry, and/or success in executing and documenting success during offsite construction projects.
    • Must have extensive knowledge of construction drawings, specifications and materials.
    • Must have experience in & working understanding of the prefabrication business
    • Must have management experience, including overseeing office management, payroll, production facilities, estimating, engineering, and scheduling
    • Strong communication and leadership skills required
    • Must be a “go-getter" and have an entrepreneurial attitude
    • Able to work in a professional work environment and show strong business acumen.


    Physical Requirements                  

    • Climbing and balancing up and down ladders, scaffolds and similar devices using feet, legs, hands, and arms to perform tasks such as inspection of job site.
    • Coordinating eyehand and eyehandfoot 
    • Seeing (either naturally or with correction) and observing at a distance.
    • Operating a personal computer in entering and retrieving information.
    • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Lifting and carrying material and objects, usually by holding them in the hands or arms or on the shoulder.
    • Hearing (either naturally or with correction) instructions, warnings and other verbal communication on the job site where construction and heavy equipment noises are present.
    • Walking/balancing and moving about on foot to perform tasks where there is rough terrain and/or impediments such as sand, mud, ice or snow.


    Special Job Dimensions

    Exposure to all forms of weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, windy) for part or the entire work day. Exposure to constant or intermittent noise of a level sufficient to cause distraction. May be required to work 10 hour days for 6 or 7 consecutive days for extended periods of time. 

    Travel may be required for this position, up to 50%.
