The Payroll and Workforce Coordinator compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records and prepares weekly payroll.  Oversees recruitment, orientation/onboarding and training activities for craft workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design of site-specific safety programs.
  • Conducts random safety audits and reviews results using statistical evaluation, audit reports and feedback.
  • Interfaces with on-site subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Establishes relationships with clients' safety staff.
  • Conducts site safety orientations.
  • Coordinates site specific substance abuse testing, if applicable.
  • Routinely audits on-site safety compliance.
  • Ensures the safe, effective and efficient operation of the department/work unit.
  • Supports and adheres to the matrix organization format.
  • Adheres to corporate safety plan.
  • Models and reinforces safety as a top priority of the organization. Always wears a hard hat and other appropriate personal protective equipment in the field.
  • Provides total commitment to continuous process improvement
  • Meets schedules and deadlines, adheres to policies and procedures and maintains a good attendance/tardiness record.
  • Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through positive, pleasant, professional and efficient handling of issues.
  • Exercises good interpersonal skills by gladly assisting others to accomplish work of the organization, even if it is outside the scope of regular duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Effectively trains, coaches and develops employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to achieve and maintain positive working relationships within the department.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Ability

Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Writes simple correspondence.  Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  Organizes and manages time, duties and activities efficiently.

 

Education

High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be bilingual and fluent in the Spanish language.

 

Experience

Six months relavant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The office provides a safe and healthy work environment, is adequately heated and cooled, is free from exposure and extreme conditions, has appropriate lighting and office furnishings, and is smoke-free and drug-free.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is normally exposed to a standard office environment.  While performing the duties of this position in the fabrication shop, warehouse, maintenance shop or at a project site, the employee could be regularly exposed to any number of the following, including, but not limited to:  moving mechanical parts; moving machinery; high, precarious places; close tight quarters; rough and sloped terrain; fumes or airborne particles; drilling and blasting activities; welding activities; toxic or caustic chemicals; the potential of falling rock; and outside weather conditions.  The employee may be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in this work environment is generally loud.
